BED BUG FAQ's

What Do Bed Bugs Look Like?

Bed bugs are small, oval shaped insects that are about the size of an apple seed. They are often a red to brown in color, and are very flat insects. Bed bug eggs would be much more difficult to spot with the naked eye. These eggs are white and are about the size of two grains of salt.

How Do I Know I Have Bed Bugs?

Indications of a bed bug infestation in your home can include: red, itchy welts on the surface of the skin; red or brown fecal spots on bedding or upholstery; molted bed bug skins; and severe infestations may have a sweet smelling odor associated with them.

How Do I Prepare For A
Bed Bug Heat Treatment?

How Soon Can I Sleep
In My Bed Again?

Thomas Pest Services will provide you with the instructions necessary to prepare for your upcoming Heat Treatment. Proper preparation is an important step for ensuring effective results. Personal items that are unable to withstand temperatures exceeding 120°F, such as some electrical devices, aerosol cans, medications, candles, and musical instruments should be removed from the treatment area.

That is one of the great things about bed bug heat treatments. You can return to your home and sleep in your bed just as soon as we are done! Sustaining heat above 120°F for several minutes kills bed bugs in all stages of their life cycle (although actual treatment time may be several hours to ensure that the entire structure is heated properly and evenly). Because bed bugs are dead by the time we leave, you can re-enter your home the very same day.
